alternative_distribution_package_available_updated

The ALTERNATIVE_DISTRIBUTION_PACKAGE_AVAILABLE_UPDATED event fires when an alternative distribution package's availability changes. This tells you whether marketplaces can currently serve that package.

When does it fire?

This event triggers when a package becomes available for alternative distribution or when availability is withdrawn. Typical causes include a successful package review, a packaging error, or you taking the package down.

Payload highlights

The payload includes the app ID, the package identifier, and the new availability state. That is enough for the message to say whether a marketplace can start (or must stop) serving the build.

How Yeethook helps

Availability changes can block or unblock an EU marketplace release. Yeethook delivers the state change immediately so release managers do not discover it by refreshing App Store Connect.

Common use cases

  • Alert the release team when a package becomes available
  • Detect when a package is taken down or marked unavailable
  • Coordinate marketplace go-live with package availability

Example payload

The values worth reading are available and territories — a boolean plus a list of ISO 3166-1 alpha-3 codes. Neither reaches the message, because Yeethook only renders state transitions, so the raw payload is where you check them.

Questions about alternative_distribution_package_available_updated

What is in the territories array?

ISO 3166-1 alpha-3 country codes, sent alongside the available boolean on every one of these events. Apple provides no separate list of what changed, so working out which territories are new means diffing against your own last-known set.

How is this different from the territory availability event?

This one includes relationships.instance pointing at an alternativeDistributionPackages record. ALTERNATIVE_DISTRIBUTION_TERRITORY_AVAILABILITY_UPDATED has no instance at all, only marketplaceApp, so this is the only one of the two that tells you which package changed.

Does the message show whether the package went available or not?

No. The message is a fixed headline at info level with no field rows, because available is not one of the attributes the raw extractor reads. The flag is preserved in the stored payload, which you can open on the event in Yeethook.

Which marketplace does the availability refer to?

The payload does not say. It names the app and the package and lists territories, but carries no marketplace identifier, so the event tells you the package can be served without telling you where it is listed.
