alternative_distribution_package_version_created

The ALTERNATIVE_DISTRIBUTION_PACKAGE_VERSION_CREATED event fires when a new alternative distribution package version is created in App Store Connect. This applies to apps that distribute through alternative marketplaces in the European Union.

When does it fire?

This event triggers when you create a new package version for alternative distribution. Each package version is what alternative marketplaces use to list and deliver your app.

Payload highlights

The webhook payload includes the app ID and the new package version identifier. Use it to confirm that a newly uploaded package is registered before a marketplace starts serving it.

How Yeethook helps

Alternative distribution packages live outside the usual App Store review flow. Yeethook posts the event to Slack or Discord so your team can track package versions without polling App Store Connect.

Common use cases

  • Confirm a new alternative distribution package version was created
  • Coordinate marketplace listings with package version readiness
  • Keep a channel record of EU alternative distribution releases

Example payload

The attributes hold an appId and a timestamp and nothing about the version itself — no version number, no size, no marketplace. Note that attributes.appId and relationships.marketplaceApp carry different identifiers, so they are not interchangeable.

Questions about alternative_distribution_package_version_created

Which ID do I use to fetch the new package version?

The one under relationships.instance, typed alternativeDistributionPackageVersions, which Apple accompanies with a links.self pointing at /v1/alternativeDistributionPackageVersions. The appId in attributes is a different number and will not resolve against that endpoint.

Does this mean the package is live in a marketplace?

No, only that the version record now exists. Serving is governed by ALTERNATIVE_DISTRIBUTION_PACKAGE_AVAILABLE_UPDATED and its available flag, and a version can be created without ever becoming available.

Why does the message carry no fields?

Alternative distribution events share a template with a fixed headline at info level, and the raw field extractor produces rows only for state transitions. This payload has no old or new state, so the message is the globe emoji, the headline and the link.
