Taxes and business billing

How tax is calculated, how to add a VAT or tax ID, and how to buy Yeethook as a business.

Yeethook uses Stripe Tax to automatically calculate and collect the correct tax based on your location. This page explains how taxes work, how to add your business tax ID, and the difference between buying as a consumer and as a business.

How tax is calculated

Tax is calculated automatically at checkout based on your billing address. Depending on your country and region, this may include VAT, GST, sales tax, or other applicable taxes. The tax amount is shown on the checkout page before you confirm, and it appears as a separate line item on your invoice.

Buying as a consumer

If you're purchasing for personal use, you just need to provide your billing address at checkout. Tax is calculated automatically — there's nothing extra to do. Your invoices will include the tax amount.

Buying as a business

If you're purchasing on behalf of a company, you should:

  1. Enter your company's billing address at checkout (not a personal address).
  2. Add your tax ID (such as a VAT number) during checkout when prompted.
  3. Optionally, add your company registration number in the Stripe Customer Portal after subscribing.

Providing your business details ensures your invoices show the correct company name, address, and tax ID — which is typically required for business expense reporting and tax filings.

Setting your VAT ID or tax ID

You can add your tax ID in two places:

  • During checkout — when you subscribe for the first time, Stripe Checkout includes a field for your tax ID. It's shown automatically for countries where tax ID collection is supported.
  • After subscribing — open the Stripe Customer Portal from your Billing page and update your tax ID in the billing details section.

Your tax ID appears on all future invoices once set.

Supported tax ID types

Stripe supports a wide range of tax ID types, including:

  • EU VAT number (e.g. DE123456789, FR12345678901)
  • UK VAT number
  • GST (Australia, New Zealand, India)
  • ABN (Australia)
  • EIN (United States)
  • SST (Malaysia)
  • And many more

For the complete list of supported tax IDs by country, see Stripe's tax ID documentation.

EU reverse charge

If you're an EU business with a valid VAT ID, the reverse charge mechanism may apply. This means VAT is not charged on your invoice — instead, you account for VAT in your own tax return. Stripe validates your VAT ID automatically and applies the reverse charge when eligible.

Company registration number

Some businesses need a company registration number (separate from a tax ID) on their invoices. You can add this in the Stripe Customer Portal under your billing details, alongside your tax ID and company name.
